Artist Statement

Maker of Golden tanks stuck in Norwegian Visa System

#followtank ‪#economyofeffortpaystheprice

I invite you to the opening of my exhibition "PRAYERS - an exhibition on power and powerlessness "The first North Mediterranean presentation of my project "The economy of power pays the price "In Oslo, Norway at Kulturkirken Jakob on Saturday 17/8/2019.

But without my presence to circumstances beyond my control, The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration "UDI" doesn't want this. Quote of their refusal to my participate in the opening of my personal exhibition "The general Egyptian situation, where the whole Schengen area has experienced an increasing pressure of immigration cases from Egypt because of the worsened situation in Egypt. This makes all the Schengen countries extremely caucious and fearful of letting anybody in that they can suspect would want to keep staying in Europe" And also "The invitation of the artist from two institutions for a personal exhibition and an art Studio Residencies is a luxury reasons that raise the risks of the artist staying after the visa expires "and Other funding reasons have been Comment on them in detail in Appeal which they were sent to" UDI". The two institutions contacted "UDI" and provided all the required guarantees "financial and details of cultural events and the importance of the existence of the artist" They also explain to "UDI" my long history in traveling to the European Union and the United States and the fact that I am carrying "Official passport" Which allows me to enter many countries in the European Union without a prior visa such as "Italy - Greece - Hungary - Austria - Spain" I am also carry a valid US visa in my normal passport to 2021, Still, the position of "UDI" is to refuse my participate.

In this context, I recall that these unfortunate events are still in the context of my project "The economy of power pays the price" Which discusses the production of weapons and the circles surrounding this economic process and its consequences for countries and individuals https://followtank.wixsite.com/1234 Norway is the seventh arms factory in the world in the amount of 153 million US dollars in 2017 and if Norway does not send these weapons to the countries of conflict directly, it is leaking on the black market to everyone and there are reports of the leak of Norwegian weapons to the parties to the conflict in Yemen. Yes, your economy is part of the problem; it gives the ability to the conflicting parties in the Middle East to escalate the problem and push the population to flee.

I value and respect the EU's efforts to cooperate with the Southern Mediterranean in development and culture, but will not achieve any results without freedom of movement "If cultural workers do not interact with the public, cultural work will be incomplete and ineffective" If the European Union is sincere in supporting cultural exchanges, freedoms and supporting societies here under unstable economic conditions, major political, cultural and social changes, "it is necessary to adopt a new system of freedom of Cultural works" and preferably stop producing weapons and investing resources in more humane economies.
